🇮🇳 India’s Response

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened an all-party meeting, where he briefed political leaders about “Operation Sindoor” a military operation signifying India’s preparedness for large-scale retaliation. This indicates a shift in India’s approach from containment to strategic counteraction.

🌏 Regional Reactions

International and strategic analysts have observed how other South Asian nations Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Afghanistan are responding to the India Pakistan Conflict.

Bangladesh, currently governed by a transitional administration led by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, has adopted a cautious and diplomatically balanced stance. Ongoing political differences between India and Bangladesh further complicate Dhaka’s position, prompting a neutral yet watchful approach.

Nepal and Bhutan, both heavily reliant on trade and economic ties with India, are advocating for a swift de-escalation. With over 60% of Nepal’s trade dependent on India and Bhutan’s tourism sector linked to Indian visitors, any prolonged conflict could economically harm both countries.

Sri Lanka and the Maldives, though previously inclined towards Chinese investments, are now leaning back toward India amid the regional uncertainty. Both nations seek to maintain regional stability and avoid the ripple effects of a broader conflict.

Afghanistan has remained silent, while most other countries maintain a neutral or low-profile posture.

🐉 China’s Role

China, a close ally of Pakistan, has invested nearly $68 billion in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the Belt and Road Initiative. Despite having significant economic ties with India, experts suggest that Beijing might favor prolonged tensions to strengthen arms sales and strategic influence over Pakistan.

🇮🇷 Iran’s Mediation Efforts

Iran has stepped in diplomatically to mediate the conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has visited both New Delhi and Islamabad, offering mediation services. Tehran seeks to avoid border instability, which could also affect its own national security interests.

🔍 Conclusion

An escalation between South Asia’s two major nuclear powers would have far-reaching consequences—impacting not only the border regions but the entire region’s economy, stability, and humanitarian situation. Now more than ever, restraint, diplomacy, and regional solidarity are critical to averting a greater crisis.
